The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is.....

Thousands of women and men will unite for two days, July 7-8, 2007 and walk 39.3 miles into the heart of San Francisco in a bold display of courage and commitment.
It's a weekend of hope, as we honor lives lost, celebrate survivors, promote breast cancer research, and help bring breast cancer care to those who so desperately need it. Net proceeds benefit the Avon Foundation to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.
I'm required to raise a minimum of $1,800 to participate in this walk, but I would ideally like to raise more.
I can't do that without your help. In fact, I'm going to need support from many people to reach my goal, and I'm hoping that I can count on you to be part of my support team.
If you know about my walking for the past 6 years in these walks, then you know that I'm committed to this very important cause.

A woman’s chance of having breast cancer during her lifetime is one in eight. Your chance of knowing this woman is almost 100%.
Every three minutes, another woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer.
Every 14 minutes another person loses his or her battle with the disease.
There are 3 million people (not only women) living with breast cancer in the U.S. and 1/3 do not even know it.
Frightening, isn’t it? Especially when you consider all the wonderful women in your life and ask the question…who will be diagnosed next? Will it be my mother? My grandmother? One of my sisters? One of my aunts or cousins? One of my co-workers? One of my friends? Or will it be me?
